DaiRin will be conducting a New Years ceremony at the North West Language Academy on the 25th of January from 5 – 6 pm.

DaiRin, and the monks of Tahoma, will offer a chanting service to be followed by an opportunity for both a private offering of prayer/incense at the altar, as well as a group visioning/blessing for the site and the larger community.

Tea and sweets will be offered following the ceremony.

All faiths are welcome.

The Rohatsu Osesshin at Tahoma the first week of January was attended by twenty-five people over a five day schedule.  Below are the stalwart group that sat through the final night to celebrate Shakyamuni Buddha’s deep awakening.  Thanks to everyone who made this sesshin a great success!

We have had two kids events this last week at Tahoma Monastery; our first Parent’s and Children’s Sunday Zazenkai, and the first of many visits from the fifth graders at South Whidbey Waldorf school.

The kids Zazenkai starts in the Zendo with sutra chanting and offering incense at the alter.

The fifth graders at South Whidbey Waldorf School will come once a month to learn about Zen Buddhism and help on various projects.  This week they did an amazing job on cleaning out the creek at the north end of the pond in preparation for a new bridge.
